Data Analytics using Machine Learning Techniques

Introduction
Data Analytics enable organizations to collect better market and customer intelligence in order to improve decision making, help companies gain efficiencies and improve their operations. A long-standing myth that many people believe is that analytics is only for people with an IT background. Though it’s true that a number of IT professionals choose to upskill with analytics, but analytics as a domain is not reserved for those with programming and IT knowledge. In this big data era, most of the jobs require data analytics skills to perform better.

Who should attend this workshop?
This training is especially relevant to those who would like to develop business data analytical skills to get data insights to make informed business decisions. For example;

  • If you are working in a retail industry and want to better understand your customers’ needs based on their buying history, demographics to upsell and cross-sell your products.
  • If you are working in a finance industry and want to predict good and bad credit risk customers based on their demographic and behavioural data.
  • If you are working in a service industry and want to detect customers who are likely to cancel a subscription to a service based on their demographics and transactional data.

Pre-Requirements
No pre-requisites are required to participate in this training module.
No programming background is necessary for this course.

Learning Outcome
At the end of this training, participants will be able differentiate various types business analytics methods to solve business problems

Trainer: Dr. Rathimala Kannan

Dr. Rathimala Kannan is currently a Senior lecturer attached to the IT Management unit, Faculty of Management at Multimedia University. In 2013 she obtained her Ph.D in the area of web structure mining from Multimedia University, Malaysia. She has been an academician and researcher for over sixteen years and was involved actively in teaching, supervision, research, and consultancy.

She has published many articles in indexed journals. Her research interests include business data analytics, machine learning techniques, business intelligence, and healthcare analytics. She is a HRDF certified trainer who is engaged in training, consulting and university-industry collaborative projects. Dr Rathimala is a senior member in IEEE, Executive Committee member of IEEE Malaysia Consultants Network Affinity Group and a member in International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology.
